Facts you should know before your first Botox consultation

One of the most common concerns we hear from clients is the loss of skin elasticity, causing wrinkles, drooping and lost volume throughout the face as we age. While good skincare and healthy lifestyle habits can make a big difference in the health of your skin, safe and effective injections such as Botox can help to revitalize the skin and decrease the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. 

In today's blog post, we're going to be sharing some of our insights and recommendations before you come to our clinic for your first Botox consultation. 

Neuromodulator injections have become commonplace in the beauty industry since the early 2000s. These injections are most commonly known by their brand names:  Botox, Dysport, and others. At Luxe Medical Spa and Laser, our team of highly-trained injectors use Botox and Dysport products for all of our clients. These injections are safe, effective, and backed by a long history of research and product development. 

So what exactly does Botox do?

Botox and Dysport injections use a small dose of botulinum toxin type A (BoNT-A)  to temporarily stop muscle movement to reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles. By limiting muscle contraction, these injections prevent the face from forming or deepening lines and wrinkles, resulting in smoother skin. 

How long does Botox last?

This is one of the most common misconceptions that we hear from clients on their first Botox consultation.  No matter the brand of neuromodulator injection that you try, results do not last forever. There are a number of different factors that contribute to the longevity of your Botox treatment,  but it is important to know that everybody processes these injections differently, meaning you will not know how long your injection will last until you've completed the treatment. Typically, clients find that injections last 3 to 4 months and will often return at this point for a follow-up treatment. Individual results are dependent on your metabolism and how many units you received at your treatment. 

How do you determine how many units of Botox I need?

At LUXE, our team of expert injectors are experienced at determining your facial shape, muscle movement patterns and skin condition to determine the best approach for your Botox treatment. Will I love the look of my Botox treatment?

Absolutely! At LUXE Medical Spa and Laser you can rest assured that our team of expert injectors are trained medical professionals with extensive experience in the cosmetic industry.

Facial symmetry is very important when targeting specific areas for Botox and in some cases, an additional follow-up appointment may be necessary to ensure that you are getting the results that best match your face shape and skin texture. Our Luxe technicians employ a less-is-more approach because we feel it is easier to add additional products to ensure we are creating a look that you will love. We always recommend clients wait two weeks to see the full results of their treatment before booking a follow-up appointment. Botox gradually develops within the body, so the full results of your treatment will not be known until at least 2 weeks following your initial appointment. 

What can I expect during my treatment?

As with any injection, some mild tenderness and discomfort may be experienced during your Botox injection treatment. The needles used for Botox and Dysport injections are very small, so for many patients, pain is typically minimal. Many patients report virtually no pain during their treatment and no downtime is required. Many of our patients even come in for injections during their lunch hours or during their typical evening routines. When you leave our clinic, no one will know that you just had a Botox or Dysport injections procedure. 

Will I see results right away?

Unlike other cosmetic procedures, Botox results are not immediate and clients may not see results for up to three or four days following their treatment. After day 5, clients will begin to see the effects of their Botox treatment and, 2 weeks post-treatment, you will be able to enjoy the full effect of your injections. We always recommend that clients come in two weeks following their initial appointment for a follow-up consultation to ensure that they're happy with their results.
